See the full letter and information about actions to mark the fifth anniversary at: http://freebassel.org/campaign/events/freebasselday/2017/03/09/freebassel5years/ Hi, everyone. I would like to let you know that I am working on my description of the process (it was based on a long alto sax solo, basically adding on/subtracting/treating some spots / weaving into a medley. I am currently making this a larger project which includes visual art, likely an essay, and then I'll have photos along with the thoughts. I'd never been on the http://llllllll.co/c/disquiet-junto before 2 days ago, so I realize that I can make a much better presentation over there with the formatting and all. . . anyhow, some of these parts of this medley or suite or whathaveyou are full tracks, while some are just previews. I've really done a lot of soaking in of information about Bassel's situation, the larger scope, and beginning reading the book of essays. The saxophone solo will be posted along with this track as a 2-track playlist pairing, so that the full alto solo source I've been working off of can be heard. That was my most raw, immediate answer to having begun to read up more updates, various thoughts, listening to several of the tracks on the list at the point when it was 17-strong -- definitely must be way beyond that mark, now! Anyhow, this had a lot of raw immediacy, and I just want to be sure to present the music/art/writing project in the right light. This disquiet0271 exercise has been the start of a large outpouring. A big thank you to Bassel, and those like him. It is certainly not a decision to be who you are, in the beginning. But, when promoting a world where culture is shared, observed, where other cultures exchange information...where we can learn about someone thousands of miles away. Sharing one's work and contributing to others. When this is some of one's idea of an enriching world, and a person has gotten the attention of many, even the best of humankind can be punished for it. Anyhow, I also want to mention that synesthesia plays a huge part in my process, so, as maybe some can imagine, it can be a huge task to talk about what one has done. Also, I should not have waited so long to publish this / wouldn't be in this predicament, then! Lateness in the project description...) -Linus
