this is ¶radio hummingbird’s contribution to this week’s disquiet junto with the serial number 0398. in short, the requirement for this contribution was to create a piece of music from a compilation of noise sources. for this track, i recorded outside noises from the neighbourhood onto two different cassette loops, each of different length. this urban noise has then been feed into my modular synthesizer which also contributed several additional noise sources such as short wave frequency radio, coloured noise, field recordings as well as an fm radio signal. additionally one of the cassette loops has been played through a tape echo into the modular. all sounds have been mixed within the modular setup and individual copies have been played through two different phaser modules. layer upon layer the noise has been shaped and animated. this whole setup has then been played and mixed live in one take. the final recording has only been subjected to light mastering in ableton live and here we are.......please enjoy what you hear........ ____________________________________________ More on this 398th weekly Disquiet Junto project — Rauschen Bern / The Assignment: Make music by making a collage of noises — at: https://disquiet.com/0398/ This week’s project is the first of three being done in collaboration with Musikfestival Bern, which runs in Switzerland from September 11 – 15, 2019.
