Thousands of radical students and young people resisted conscription and marched in the streets, linking up with workers who went on strike and refused to transport material for the war. This blazed a trail for other movements in the 1970s, 80s and 90s against the nuclear fuel chain, US bases, and the arms industry. With new wars and imperialist tensions building today, there’s a clear need for a new movement of resistance to the war machine, building on lessons from the radical movements of the past.
