Disruptive Voices - Critical Global Health (3/5): Prof David Osrin on Urban Health

from UCL Minds · host UCL

Presented by Catriona Gold. In this series, we ask scholars at UCL to reflect on the meaning and practice of Critical Global Health. In this episode, Professor David Osrin (UCL Institute for Global Health) discusses his approach to researching and teaching urban health. He explains the ‘structural’ nature of urban health, and what he sees as a critical approach to the topic. He also reflects on changing language and framing of research in the field and its (dis)advantages - for example, the benefits of moving away from discussing ‘regions’ in favour of discussing specific cities. This podcast series is hosted by the UCL Grand Challenge of Global Heath, with support from the Faculty of Social and Historical Sciences and UCL Health, Mind and Society.
