“DISSIDENT RIGHT” HATE OLIVER ANTHONY (AND WHITE PEOPLE)

To the surprise of no one, the self proclaimed thought leaders of the smoldering ashes of the alt right (called the “dissident right” now because these people burned it to the ground) hate the Oliver Anthony song “Rich Men North of Richmond” for various lame reasons, mostly in my opinion because they actually hate white people, especially rural and poor white people. Ultimately it’s just a country song, with a well intended message lamenting many aspects of the government which obviously do not serve the majority of working class Americans. But this isn’t good enough for the so-called “dissidents” who evidently expect a robust political platform within the lyrics of a relatively generic but somewhat reactionary country song from a kid from the American South.
