Disturbed Serial Killer Brags About His CrimesOn January 1st, 2019, Tarpon Springs police responded to a welfare check after concerned family members reported that they hadn't heard from their father in over a week and were unable to reach his wife as well. Upon arriving at the residence, officers were immediately struck by the distinct odor of decomposition coming from inside the manufactured home.When officers entered the home, they discovered a horrifying scene—three bodies in an advanced state of decomposition. The bodies had been manipulated after death, with cleaning agents poured over them, and one of the heads appeared to have been doused with paint. After confirming that no one was alive in the residence, officers secured the home as a crime scene and began their investigation.The victims were identified as 71-year-old Richard Ivancic, his 59-year-old wife, Laura Ivancic, and their 25-year-old son, Nicholas Ivancic. Detectives quickly began investigating who could have committed such a terrible crime. They noted that Laura Ivancic's 2013 Kia Sorento was missing, suggesting it had been taken by the suspect.Crucial information came from neighbors who reported seeing a man in his 20s digging a shallow hole in front of the trailer home where the murders occurred, with a child standing nearby. The neighbors' description of the man matched that of Shelby Nealy, Richard and Laura’s son-in-law. Nealy had also been using the victims' credit cards in nearby Pinellas and Pasco counties, including at local pawn shops, which further helped detectives track his movements.Meanwhile, police identified Jamie Nicole Ivancic, Richard and Laura's 21-year-old daughter and Nealy's wife, as missing under suspicious circumstances. Initially, she was reported as a missing and endangered person, with fears that she too might be a victim of foul play.Detectives soon discovered that Nealy had fled Florida and traveled to Ohio. Authorities in Lakewood, Ohio, were able to apprehend Nealy after locating him with Laura's stolen vehicle.
