Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Mini-Series - What is implicit bias?

from Rooted: A Podcast About Nature & Wellbeing

It's natural for humans to make judgements and have bias. Implicit bias is an unconscious association, belief or attitude toward any social group. Unfortunately, implicit bias can lead to false assumptions and stereotyping.  Organizations and their leaders can mitigate the effects of implicit bias, beginning with the recruiting and hiring process and continuing through the intentional training and strategies to raise aware and address bias directly. My guest for the third episode this 3 part series focused on DE&I is Gary Abernathy, Vice President and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Practice Lead at March & McLennan Agency. Named by Corp! Magazine in 2019 as Diversity Leader of the Year, Gary has over fifteen years in the employee development and training field and understands the sensitivity and challenges in addressing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
