Divine Mercy Parish: Stations of the Cross
from Hamden Catholic · host St. Paul VI Hamden
The Stations of the Cross is a centuries-old form of prayer used traditionally in Lent. They began as the practice of pious pilgrims in Jerusalem. The Stations retrace the final journey of Jesus Christ to Calvary. Later, for those unable to make the journey to Jerusalem, a practice developed of fourteen stations being placed along an outdoor pathway around a Church or a shrine. Currently, Stations of the Cross are found in almost every church. By journeying through the Stations, we walk with Jesus on His way to the cross. Praying the Stations of the Cross is a powerful way for us to unite Christ's suffering with our own and that of the world. We prayerfully recommend these Stations for the season of Lent.
