'Django Unchained' Meets 'Ocean's 11'
from Shoot This Now
Every week we talk about stories that should be movies. This episode: TheWrap film reporter Trey Williams tells us about 23-year-old slave Robert Smalls, who seized a Confederate ship to free his family and crewmembers - then helped win the Civil War and integrate the Navy. We also talk about Kanye West, why so many movies about slavery follow the same Oscar-baity but predictable formula, and the "This American Life" account of how an Oakland student inspired Steven Spielberg to make "Amistad."
