Jeremiah 26:1–19, Jeremiah predicts the destruction of the temple, and is opposed by the false prophets and the priests, and is defended by the public officials in the land! Meanwhile, the people swing both ways! Matthew 26:20–35, Jesus will suffer and die after one betrays Him, one denies him three times, and all of his disciples fall away – and yet, the real meaning of his death is this, that he lays down his life as a ransom for many.
