Das Deutsche Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt arbeitet an Brennstoffzellen für die Luftfahrt. Im Projekt BALIS will das DLR den ersten Brennstoffzell-Antrieb mit 1,5 Megawatt entwickeln. Damit könnte ein Wasserstoff-Flugzeug mit 60 Passagieren emissionsfrei 1.000 Kilometer weit fliegen.
