DNA — Drop the Mask
from LifeWell Messages
At the center of the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew 6:1-18 confronts the gap between appearance and reality. This message argues that the popular call to simply be your true self collides with Scripture, where the unaided self is governed by the flesh; authenticity is possible only with Christ at the center, as Galatians 2:20 describes. Jesus names three marks of a life lived authentically before God: giving to the needy, prayer, and fasting. In each, the recurring phrase is when , not if — these are assumed byproducts of genuine apprenticeship — and the recurring danger is performing them as theater for an audience. The application works through the Lord's Prayer line by line and offers an inventory of inauthentic patterns: denying sin, inviting constant noise, drifting toward idols. The aim is to invite the Spirit to mold what needs molding.
