The use of the tools of "getting down on their level" is not just a simplifying the message, it is a control of distance "proxemics" body movements "haptics" and speed of physical interaction. These are critical details when teaching our babies, toddlers and school aged "little ones". The key term is "little" versus a full grown adult in a stressful communication event that can prove intimidating and even terrifying.
