In our next catcafepodcast, we host Dr. Nicole Ehrhart, an amazing veterinary surgical oncologist. We are talking about cat cancer and the most common warning signs you, as a cat owner, need to look for. Cancer is common in the older cat and cats are masters of disguise. Nicole tells us what she does in her daily veterinary practice and her academic hospital really looks like a human hospital. Treating cancer is a team sport so she works closely with lots of other specialists. But she stresses the fact that the owner is part of that team too. We need to make informed decisions for a patient that can’t decide for themselves. Luckily, there are lots of options in cancer therapy and discussing these options with the cat owner is of extreme importance. In her patients, quality of life is the most important goal.
