Do I really have a second chance? This is the daily historical podcast with Anthony Fungini. This is not my first attempt to prepare for this podcast. Thank God for second, third, and fourth.

Chances, come on, you woke up this morning, didn't you? You're opening even just a bit of your mind to new input through this podcast, aren't you? And even if that question probably refers to one particular challenging part of your life, you have been given second chances many times over in your life, haven't you? You really have a second chance.

We are out of town as of this recording, and what I said to my wife is a renewed scuba diver. She long gave up this sport or this hobby many, many years ago, and initially refused to even try again. There was hesitation, there was fear, almost dread, to do it again. But as our kids all got themselves certified and our 10-year-old Solana just had hers yesterday, but he felt that it was time to take a second chance.

And for her, it was freedom. I know he sells an actress, and she knows a lot, a whole lot about second chances. Hello, day two, day three. Kaya McLaren, miracles were just second chances.

If you thought about it, second chances when all hope was lost. My second chances, what can you relate with? My having been given a chance to run again, being a runner in high school college, but dropping that for literally decades before running my first marathon at 45 years old, and having done 11 as of this date. Second chances at going back to boxing training?

My dad got me involved in this over 40 years ago, and going back to court training, doing those push-ups with claps in between. What a joy for that chance again. Second chances at my MBA, having been disappointed, rejected, in my top choice many, many, many, many, many years ago. But thank God, having been admitted in what is now the number one executive management program when it comes to MBAs in the world, which isn't yet.

Second chances, third, fourth, fifth, in my own business. In making babies. What is that? And I said, that's possible when we get married.

It's yours, else time. And it took us years, at least three. And for some, I know more years than that to have our first child. Second chances, even before that, in choosing whom to love.

Because I was more than once let go. Second chances as lost sheep. Lost in more ways than one. And given a chance in more times than one, by my good shepherd.

I think about this passage in the Bible where Jesus tells Peter, after you have recovered, which means he already anticipated that one of his best friends would betray him. After you have recovered, strengthen your brothers. Wow, what a second chance, not just to recover, but to build up others along the way. Ling ma, a second chance doesn't mean you're in the clear.

In many ways, it is the more difficult thing because a second chance means that you have to try harder. You must rise to the challenge without the blind optimism of ignorance. You do have a second, third, fourth chance. That's not the issue.

The question is, will you go for it? This matter is in your hands. Tomorrow we look at ways to know when. And even further along the week, how to find the courage to go for it.

For now, though, you had another chance of discovering something new or to relearn what you already knew through this podcast, my friend. So that answers the question if you do have a crack at second chances. But you know what? Better than that, you took it.

Thank you for taking this eighth chance for further growth. Congratulations.
