Do It Now Ep. 15 - with Melissa Benson, Author & Entrepreneur

from DO IT NOW · host Sara Moses

Women Entrepreneurs Building Businesses and Community Sara Moses and Melissa Benson discussed the challenges of balancing entrepreneurship, motherhood, and spirituality. Melissa shared vulnerable insights from her own journey of building and selling a successful calligraphy business, how she struggled to integrate her faith and family while scaling her company, and the community she has since built to support other "wholepreneurs" in living an integrated life. In the interview, Melissa traces her story from starting a small Etsy shop out of her home to positioning it for a profitable exit several years later. She is honest about feeling she neglected aspects of her health and spirituality during the intense growth years, constantly struggling with the demands of business and motherhood. After selling her company, she realized just having more financial resources did not equate to a more balanced, grounded life. This initiated a season of exploration for Melissa. She also hosts virtual meetups to connect with others on this journey. It was inspiring to hear her vision for creating spaces that honor every facet of a woman’s life. Both Sara and Melissa emphasized the importance of surrounding yourself with others who believe integrated, soul-led lives are possible amidst the demands of business and family. Instead of segmenting aspects of yourself, accept all of who you are and find a community that celebrates that.   If you resonate with this topic, you can find out more about Melissa’s work at her website. I’d encourage you to check out the full conversation in this thought-provoking video! -- Melissa has been an entrepreneur since 2015, selling her last company in 2022 and transitioning full-time into writing and coaching. She has a passion to see women thrive in their faith, families and small businesses. In 2023, Melissa wrote her first book, Hope Surge. She lives in Phoenix, Arizona, with her husband and three kids, who they homeschool. She is a dreamer, adventurer and her main love language is a cup of coffee over quiet time. 😉   Melissa would love to connect with you!
