The pre-election promises are coming thick and fast. One of the latest, from New Zealand First would see a $1 billion investment to survey the country's offshore basins for oil and gas supplies. The aim is to shore up domestic fuel supply. It's a pretty large chunk of change and it's not the only big number being thrown around on this issue so we wanted to know how realistic it is. University of Canterbury civil engineering professor David Dempsey chats to Jesse.
