Do you blame your upbringing, schools, or parents for "the way you turned out"?

from The Money Honey - Women in Property, Finance & Construction · host Rosalia Lazzara-Tilley

Sofia Jones, financial adviser and owner of Penny House shares: "When I was working in well-paid job in pharmaceuticals, I started learning about what I would need to do to train as a mortgage adviser. I believe everything happens for a reason. I was lucky to find a great broker who was willing to advise me when I was buying my first property, opposed to just completing a transaction, they taught me a huge amount about the industry and gave me a great insight, this encouraged me to take the leap and work in a sector that I was passionate about. I started Penny House in 2017 from my garden shed. Alongside Penny House I also continued to grow my buy-to-let portfolio by buying properties that need renovating, doing the necessary works, and then renting them out.Fast forward to today, the company is based in London I split my time between London and my home office in Oxford. But the coolest part is I’m no longer alone, I get to work with a great team. The company has advisers based in other areas over the UK and arranges nationally.I specialise in complex cases such as buy to let portfolio lending, business owners finance and insurance but Penny House and the team collectively can arrange all types of mortgages with the core of our business being first time buyers and re-mortgages so we have a diverse client base and knowledge between us."
