Do You Love Me?

On the shore of the Sea of Galilee, where Jesus first called his disciples, the risen Lord asks Peter three times, "Do you love me?" and three times commissions him: "Feed my lambs; tend my sheep." Peter, who denied him three times, is restored, and Jesus tells him he will glorify God by his death. Love for Christ shows itself in patient labor for his sheep and in following him by the way of the cross, until he comes again.
