Send us Fan MailI had the best conversation with Carla Stanley about her journey as a DNP student. I have to admit, I was a little intimidated when I saw all the letters behind her name but I had no need to be; she’s delightfully down to earth. We discussed the types of programs, the application process, and the blood, sweat, and tears required to achieve such a goal. My respect and admiration only grew when I learned the ‘why’ behind her multiple board certifications; Carla strives to be the expert in her field. I love it when she said, “If you can see me, you can be me” and she’s using all the tools in her toolbox: her education, certifications, credentials, professional memberships, networking, and very soon, her Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree to improve health outcomes among black, indigenous, and people of color.
