Doctrine: Good; Distraction: Bad

As concerns doctrine, Christians can be a terribly distracted bunch. Christians have an unfortunate tendency to pay much attention to doctrine which Scripture doesn't give much attention, and is controversial to boot. Christians ought instead seek to grow in their understanding of doctrine which is given particular attention in Scripture. What doctrines does Scripture pay particular attention, and why?
