On August 26, the Los Angeles Dodgers put together a statement win over the Cincinnati Reds, shutting them out 7-0. This blowout was powered by Andy Page's, who hit two big home runs, and pitcher Emmett Sheihan, who threw seven scoreless innings. The Dodgers had to go up against the Reds best, Hunter Green, but from early on, it was pretty clear who was in control. Andy Page's didn't waste time showing off his power.
In the third inning, he knocked a solo homer deep into left field to start the scoring. Just two innings later, he did it again, launching a second home run with a runner on second. That made it his second multi-homer game this season, and funny enough, both have come off some tough pitchers. He seems to really have Hunter Green's number, since he also homered off Green last year.
Page has said after the game that facing someone with green speed is always a challenge, but he just locked in and waited for mistakes. Emmett Sheihan did his job on the pitching side and kept the Reds from doing any real damage. Mookey Betts chipped in with some slick defense, and the rest of the Dodgers lineup stayed consistent at the plate. Over in the division, the Padres lost to the Mariners, which gave the Dodgers a one-game lead in the National League West.
With the season heading into its final stretch, every win starts to matter just a bit more. If Andy Page can keep this up, and Green keeps struggling against him, the Dodgers may pull further ahead and really set themselves up for October. Right now, the Dodgers seem to be finding their groove at just the right moment. The dominance from Page's and Sheihan, along with some timely help from the rest of the team, has everyone wondering if this hot streak could be what defines their season.
For Hunter Green, he probably wouldn't mind seeing someone other than Andy Page's the next time they play.
