Dodgers Win Eighth World Series
from Hot Off - US Trends
The Los Angeles Dodgers have secured their eighth World Series championship in franchise history by defeating the New York Yankees in five games. The decisive Game 5 saw the Dodgers win with a score of 7-6. This series drew significant viewership, with Game 5 averaging 18.6 million viewers across Fox's channels and streaming platforms, marking the highest viewership for a World Series Game 5 since 2017. The series average viewership was 15.8 million per game, the highest since 2017. Locally, the Dodgers outperformed the Yankees in ratings, achieving a 21.1 rating and a 55 share in Los Angeles. The series also saw record viewership in Japan, partly due to the presence of Shohei Ohtani. The high viewership and advertising revenue are notable positives for MLB, especially given the broader decline in television audiences since the COVID-19 pandemic.
