Does Prayer Matter

Does Prayer Matter? Does praying matter, or perhaps we could ask how it matters, when dealing with people? It makes sense to pray about illnesses or natural disasters because God can change things miraculously; however, when dealing with people and the choices they make we know that God does not erase free will. Thus, we might wonder why we should pray about situations if it is other people who are responsible for making choices and not these choices may not line up with God's will.
