Dogs On Wheels | Dog Edition #91

from Dog Edition · host Dog Podcast Network

Sixty years ago, medical trail blazer and veterinary orthopedic surgeon Lincoln Parkes built the first “dog cart” for his surgical patients. They could wheel themselves about while they recovered from surgery and maintain their strength. Since then K9 Carts, the business born of Dr. Parkes’ simple contraption, has kept millions of dogs mobile from Florida to Nepal. Dogs use wheelchairs to recover from surgery, but also during recovery or illness. Their humans, some of whom join us for today’s show, have adaptations to make, but those are well worth it to care for their dogs with disabilities. There’s even a UK charity to help owners who can’t afford wheels.
