Dogwood Robinson

from JFRocks Music Publishing · host Jeff Fiorentino

This is an epic guitar piece that I put together for an indie-film project I'm currently a part of. This piece is a mix of neo-classical and classic rock with a pinch of alternative especially in its tone. The song starts off almost Pink Floyd in nature but moves into a more hard rock riffing groove. The guitar solo down the middle is built around a riff alteration of the jazzy section that begins the song. The solo itself however is very Vai meets Van Halen meets Jeff Fiorentino. It's a tricky little section and I had to do it all in one piece for timing reasons. So there's lots of happy little accidental harmonics and noises throughout. These are actually the kinds of solos I like doing. Improv was how I cut my teeth, so any chance I get to pull a cool guitar solo out of my ass around a great rhythm with lots of chord changes makes me a happy Jeff indeed. The song's title is in reference to a character in the film. Nothing too mysterious about it really... Enjoy.... and as always.... CRANK IT UP!! You'll want to go way up for this one, and a good set of headphones will serve you well...
