Dolly Parton, State Fair Scandal, Tupac & Oreo-Gate | Ep. 96

Julia gets stage fright at the Minnesota State Fair, but that doesn’t stop the people-watching, fair food, music, and a little scandal. Lori & Julia unpack the latest Dolly Parton news, from Dollyfest and a possible Met Gala theme change to Miley Cyrus and Super Bowl speculation. US Open: Roger Federer, Carlos Alcaraz’s hair, and why tennis fans may be over the influencer invasion. Plus: the latest twist in the Tupac Shakur murder case, the absolutely unnecessary Days of Thunder 2, Tom Cruise’s next movie, and a book recommendation for The Road to Tender Hearts by Annie Hartnett. There’s also another family engagement, early wedding planning, Kelly Clarkson’s final show, Dirty Dancing at the Ordway, the latest Olivia Rodrigo and Jennifer Aniston news, TV recommendations, and Oreo-gate. Plus: Korean skincare and a few things Lori & Julia swear they’ll never do again. 0:00 — Fair catch-up, noisy live-show memories, and people-watching 2:10 — Polka-punk at the fair, crop art lines, and fair food 5:15 — Farewell to the Frontier Saloon 6:20 — State Fair baking contests and the poultry barn 8:55 — Dolly Parton airport-name speculation and Dolly Fest 11:35 — Dolly tribute, a butterfly onstage, and a Keanu Reeves costume story 13:40 — Jane Fonda on Dolly’s generosity with fans 16:25 — A possible Dolly fashion exhibit at the Met 20:10 — Miley Cyrus, a possible Super Bowl performance, and celebrity mononyms 21:45 — Sunglasses and eyewear picks 23:20 — Croatia trip update and roommate matching 25:00 — US Open, Roger Federer, and tennis nostalgia 30:35 — Tupac Shakur case discussion 33:10 — Why Days of Thunder 2 is happening 36:55 — A 9/11 tribute, Tom Cruise, and Top Gun: Maverick 38:25 — Twin Cities Closets 40:35 — Let’s Dish 42:50 — The Road to Tender Hearts book recommendation 43:20 — Family engagement news and wedding dress codes 45:00 — Kelly Clarkson’s final show 46:35 — Dirty Dancing at the Ordway 47:15 — Oreo Gate: kindergarten lunchbox drama 53:40 — Olivia Rodrigo’s festival donation and TV recommendations 55:15 — Jennifer Aniston and Jim Curtis 56:50 — Korean skincare, overnight masks, and the sign-off THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS: Borton Overseas: https://www.bortonoverseas.com/loriandjulia/ InVision Distinctive Eyewear: https://www.invision-optical.com/ Let’s Dish: https://letsdish.com/ Twin Cities Closet Company: https://www.tcclosets.com/ CONNECT WITH US Instagram: @loriandjulia TikTok: @loriandjulia Listen on Spotify/Apple Podcasts: loriandjulia.com See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
