Lewis, Seattle King County NAACP Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO) Chair talks about the success of her participants earlier this month at the NAACP Annual Meeting in Chicago. There were four medal winners from Seattle, Maya Russell won Bronze-Music Vocal Contemporary and she joins the conversation, Amaya Sutton-Silver-Biology/Microbiology, Kameirah Johnson Gold-Painting & Silver-Photography.*Ruby Taylor, Project Coordinator "A LEGACY ILLUMINATED" celebrating the artist, stories, productions and cultural legacy of Black Arts West and Black Theatre in the Pacific Northwest. The exhibit will be held August 6 to October 3 at the King Street Station.*Willie Seals III, Co Founder and Board Member, The Academy for Creating Excellence (ACE) comments on the Summer Learning Experience that has provided young scholars with opportunities to build confidence, develop leadership skills, strengthen academic success and create lifelong friendships.*Barney Hilliard pays tribute to his brother Hartsel Hilliard who grew up in Seattle's Central District, a Garfield High School graduate, played football at the University of Washington and was also earned his commission through the Army ROTC. He served as helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War earning both the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Bronze Star Medal for his exemplary service.
