Domestic Manners of the Americans by Frances Milton Trollope | 1832 American Travel & Social History Audiobook Part 2

⭐ Catholic Review — 4/5 A fascinating historical portrait of early-19th-century America, written with sharp wit, strong opinions, and sometimes biting criticism. From a Catholic perspective, Trollope’s observations on religion are particularly interesting: she contrasts American Protestant divisions with her favorable impression of Catholic unity and praises the Catholic bishop of Cincinnati. Historically valuable, but not a specifically Catholic work.
