The Sinn Fein Chief Whip says the recent actions of the US President provides clear evidence why his party has taken the decision not to attend the White House for the St Patrick’s Day Celebrations. US President Donald Trump has hailed the impact of the Irish in America days ahead of the Taoiseach, Micheál Martin's visit to the White House. Donald Trump recently signed a proclamation declaring March "Irish-American Heritage Month" in the states. An event he says will "commemorate the special bond of friendship between the United States and Ireland. Donegal TD Padraig Mac Lochlainn says the actions of the President Trump on international policy as well as his decision to impose tariffs on the likes of Europe and Canada is concerning. Deputy Mac Lochlainn has urged the Taoiseach to use the Oval office visit as an opportunity to express the concerns of the Irish people to the US President.
