Don't start with technology, start with the people

The current Ebola crisis has unfairly cast Africa's healthcare systems in an unfavourable light ("unfairly" because most of Africa is Ebola-free, but nonetheless, there are considerable challenges in the developing world). Isaac Holeman (www.isaacholeman.org), a current PhD candidate and Gates Scholar at Cambridge Judge Business School, co-founded Medic Mobile as a way to help healthcare workers in rural communities in the developing world. The key insight was not so much the technology, which turned out to be quite basic, but how to get people to adopt these technologies. In this podcast, Isaac talks about the challenges facing healthcare workers in Africa and other developing countries, and the challenges in changing people's behaviours.
