Don't Waste Your Time

In “Don’t Waste Your Time,” Trey Knowles delivers a bold message about guarding your time, energy, and the spiritual gifts God has given you. Drawing on the biblical image of not casting pearls before swine, Trey explains why he refuses to continually offer truth to those who knowingly reject the light and choose to remain in darkness. The song confronts the destructive works of the devil and the lingering influence of the colonizer’s legacy, while emphasizing the importance of spiritual discernment. Rather than exhausting himself trying to convince people who refuse to receive truth, Trey chooses to protect his own soul, pursue righteousness, and continue walking in the light of God. Yet “Don’t Waste Your Time” is not a message of hatred or bitterness. Trey still desires for everyone to receive God’s Spirit, gain clarity, turn toward righteousness, and discover the truth for themselves. Ultimately, the song is a reminder to know when to speak, when to move forward, and never allow another person’s rejection of the light to pull you away from your own walk with God.
