Episode Description
Morning Mantra: "Don’t waste your words on people who deserve your silence.”
Recently I had to sort through a bullying problem. I’m more of a pacifist than a fighter (being a hippy and all) and I understand that sometimes we need to ignore certain people to achieve peace. But man that can be difficult!
The bully is a control freak and, in her effort to keep her world “safe”, she tries to tell everyone what to do. And while I understand that her behavior isn’t about me, I also know it is not okay for her to treat me that way.
I had tried to connect with her but she is too invested in the struggle to ever hear me. So, I decided to let go of my need for her to understand my point of view. I decided to ignore her and let my lack of engagement be my message. I decided my peace was more important than being heard.
Like Tupac says in our Mantra this morning, I wasn’t going to waste my words where they wouldn’t matter. She was never going to “hear” me.
Making that decision has freed me from the conflict and my need to make things better.
