Double scoop Bad news, skinned knee; stepped on a pricker, got stung by a bee Tears and crying out in pain, mother to the rescue again Sit down in the kitchen, alcohol stings and gets you twitchin But if you were cool you could go sit on the stoop A reward for being a big kid you got a double scoop Years later, mom gone who will tend, me with a bleeding heart to mend I talk like she was, and go on to explain, wait for mother to the rescue again Sit down in my kitchen, reality stings and gets me bitchin Stick my head in the freezer, play a dream I keep on a loop I see mama comin towards me with a nice big double scoop Cold and sweet soothe the fire, the pain burns, and it makes me perspire Stand staring at the sky in the rain, knowing mother cannot rescue you again No where to sit in the kitchen, wondering how you ever got in this position Believing one and one is one, fell for that dupe Alone and marveling at the melting double scoop Tim Windisch 06/28/2024
