Double-Trouble: Turkey Hunting Success with a Partner

As I look back over the last 30 years of turkey hunting, I realized that more than 60% of the gobblers I saw get knocked down were on hunts shared with someone else. Double teaming gobblers is a deadly effective strategy in the spring woods, and I want to share with you why I think two hunters on a gobbler are better than one. Plus, I’ll give you two new tactics you may have never tried before with your hunting partner.We’re talking about double teaming spring toms. In this episode, let’s take a look at all the advantages that double-teaming can bring to your hunt. Two hunters mean more eyes glassing a distant field for strutters or more eyes scanning the woods for the movement of an approaching gobbler. Likewise, two hunters mean twice as many ears listening for gobblers on the roost or picking out responses to your locator call. Having a hunting partner can keep you in the field longer. When you’re wanting to quit, having someone else there with you can help you sit it out just a little while longer or to climb just one more ridgetop to call from.
