And on Mondays, mindset. That's right, on every Monday, I talk about a mindset issue, some type of limiting belief or problem that I run into when talking to small business owners and coaching clients about some of the things that they deal with and some of the things that are difficult to get around in business and in life. So today, I have a really interesting phenomenon that happens. It always happens right when you're about to achieve a success in life, or right when you actually achieve that success.
So you're rocking it and you just had that thing happen that you want and then all of a sudden you get this weird feeling, it's like, oh my God, am I really ready for this? Do I deserve this? That's doubt, that's doubt creeping up and messing with you, trying to keep you safe. If fear has a cousin and it's doubt.
And the reason that that happens is anytime you embark on anything new, anytime you have a success, there's always this little thing, this limiting belief that you're not quite ready for the success that you're having. And that's why I think it's one of those defense mechanisms that keeps us safe. And it also depends on how much you actually recognize your value. And at times, you know, it can be the people that surround you that are part of the problem.
They can be, you know, adding to that attitude and that aura of self-doubt. So of course one of the things you can do is surround yourself around people that are like you, that are supportive and that will encourage you and help you along with those things that you want to achieve. It's so much easier to be accepting of your success when you have other people around you that are supportive. Now, one of the ways that you can fight, you know, this, this doubt and going down that rabbit hole of doubt.
And the reason I call it the rabbit hole of doubt is because once you start thinking about one thing that you're not good at or one thing that you don't deserve, other things usually start piling on top of it. And it just pushes you further and further and further down. You know, it could just be a bad customer experience. And then you start wondering whether or not you actually have the ability to currently serve your customers the correct way.
You make a mistake and then you wonder if you're going to keep making the same mistake over and over and over again. And how you, you know, got to that place to begin with. And a lot of times we blow it out of proportion, the problem that we have to begin with anyway. So you can climb out of the little rabbit hole of doubt.
It's not hard, but you have to start with a little bit of self recognition. And saying that, you know what, I am good enough for this. This is something that I'm good at. I deserve this success that I'm having right now.
And I know, I know it may sound a little food food and out there and new age, but it's really not. You'd be surprised at how powerful it is to state what it is that you should be getting. You've paid your dues, you've given your time. And it's time for you to have success.
All right guys, that's it for mindset Monday. I just wanted to give you a little bit of wisdom on that one, something I ran into here recently. Myself had a recent success and all of a sudden, right when I had it, it was like, oh man, do I really deserve this? Is this really happening?
Is this something that I can do? After I told myself, I was like, look, I do deserve this, I paid the dues, I put in the time I've done the work. And then a good friend of mine told me the exact same thing when I told them what I was going through. And they're not even my coach.
And it was powerful. And it was just more validation than, yeah, you know what, I do deserve what's going on. So take that with you guys. And I will see you in the next episode.
