There's been another dramatic increase in the number of daily coronavirus infections in South Africa; this time 8,166 new cases were picked up over the latest 24-hour cycle.They bring the number of known infections in the country since the start of the outbreak to over eight hundred and thirty thousand. The country has officially entered the second wave of the virus with the Eastern Cape, Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng being the key drivers of the virus. While teenagers have been flagged as the main age of current COVID-19 infections, South Africans are being asked to enjoy the festive season with restraint. As SA battles with a spike in the number of daily recorded Covid-19 cases, the country continues to drop on the list of countries with the most Covid-19 infections.
