What this episode covers
An independent study has found that air pollution produced by New South Wales coal-fired power stations causes 279 deaths in the state. The research undertaken by epidemiologist Dr Ben Ewald is the first of its kind in Australia, and his analysis also found that 233 babies are born with a low birth weight (less than 2.5kg), and 369 people in NSW develop Type 2 diabetes due to air pollution from burning coal for power.
