For Dr. Bethany Bayer, a recent graduate from Texas A&M College of Medicine, the path to becoming a physician began long before medical school. Growing up in the small town of Floresville, she witnessed firsthand the challenges that many rural residents face when seeking healthcare. “Commuting over an hour for medical appointments isn’t practical for many people in small communities,” Bayer said. “For families whose livelihoods depend on long hours of work, healthcare often takes a back seat.” Those experiences inspired Bayer, a 2018 Floresville High School graduate, to pursue medicine and ultimately led her to Texas A&M’s Rural Medicine...
