Chair of General Practioners NZ and newly appointed Health NZ Board member Dr Bryan Betty joins Nick Mills on the show this morning to discuss GPs responsibility when restricting licenses. He says there are many rules in place to protect the public from drivers whose driving quality may be deteriorating and the GPs take their responsibility very seriously, noting the burden it brings onto the patient.  Dr Betty also shared his concerns around changes to privacy rules as a GP when you have to disclose this party concerns to the patient. He says he doesn't think the element of trust in confidentiality has been thought through in the act.
