Dr. Carlene MacMillan On Mental Health And Suicide Prevention

from Veteran's Minimum · host Nick Dais, Veterans Minimum, George Carmona

***Disclaimer: Suicide is not easy to talk about. This may be a topic that can be seen as a trigger for some. I ask that you please read with the caution of your mental state of mind. Just because it's uncomfortable doesn't mean we should ignore the conversation.***   On this episode, I speak to Dr. Carlene MacMillan who is a graduate from Harvard Medical school and is the founder of Brooklyn Minds. Brooklyn Minds is a team-based, tech-enabled comprehensive mental health practice offering services for individuals and families across the lifespan. Formed in 2016 by Carlene MacMillan, M.D., a Harvard trained adult and child psychiatrist, and Owen Muir, M.D., a University of Rochester trained adult and child psychiatrist, we have grown to a collaborative group of practitioners including psychiatrists, therapists, nurses, case managers, and technicians. We talk about mental health, why is there such a stigma attached to it, how has COVID affected people's mental health, suicide rates amongst young men and women, Sergio's legacy and what he meant to me and so much more.  I appreciate the audience for giving me the strength and courage to be comfortable enough to talk about whatever it is I want to talk about on the show. You guys trust me, you believe in me and you don't expect me to be perfect. I'm just a dude who knows his flaws, isn't that smart but works his backside off. I don't take it for granted, this is a hard conversation but it's very insightful and you know I try to give you guys the best I can and leave these shows better than when you came Legends!
