Dr. Darryl Johnson - Education - Evening WURDs 3.24.26

Dr. Darryl Johnson is the Principal of George Washington Carver High School of Engineering and Science. Under Principle Johnson’s leadership, Engineering and Science developed a robust Dual Enrollment Pathways program along with a STEM internship experience that has allowed over 375 students to attain college credits and/or real world experiences prior to graduation, has reported the highest 4-year graduation rates (100%) across the School District of Philadelphia during the 2022-2023 school year and was also recognized as one of the Best High Schools in the United States in 2023 by US News & World Report. He joined Dr. Peterson for this week's Tuesday teach-in segment to discuss his time as the Principal of George Washington Carver High School for Engineering and Science, the lack of Black students getting admitted to top schools and how the Philadelphia School District's funding challenges impact his school.
