She is a Professor of Modern and Contemporary Art and Critical Race Art History at the Courtauld Institute of Art in London, and was previously Professor of History of Art at the University of Bristol as the first woman of colour to be appointed to a Chair in Art History at a Russell Group university. In 2021, she was elected a Fellow of the British Academy. Listen on to hear me ask Dorothy about her specializations of German modernism and post-war Black British art, and how she approaches these very different themes. We also speak about her experiences both curating and teaching, and she delves deeper into the processes of curating an exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts (one of which recently closed, titled Entangles Pasts).
