Menace to Maestro A native of Philadelphia, who attended the Philadelphia Public School System, but entered the United States Marine Corp at the age of seventeen, to escape the dangers of the gang-war violence in the 1970's. Although, born crippled by the Polio Virus, Auto-immune Deficiency, and the Sickle Cell Trait—did not deter him from becoming the man he is today . . . Maestro, better known as Dr. Ferman is a versatile musician, arranger, producer, engineer, and composer of our universal language—music. His integrity is ingrained within his creativity; instrumental proficiency, respect for the craft, resulting in the production of good quality music. One of his fondest memorable music inspirations was while watching his Aunt Lucille slap her thighs with rhythmic perfection while singing the Hambone Song. He creatively mimics her skills and creates all music composition by first, beating his legs and upper body parts like a set of drums. To continue his pursuit of a musical career, in1980 he hired a guitar tutor and enrolled in Neupauer's Conservatory of Music. Dr. Ferman greatly appreciates the works of Duke Ellington, James Brown, Gene Page, and The Sound of Philadelphia. Long story short . . . prison is where Dr. Ferman got most of his performing experience and obtained four years of weekly private tutoring in the "Techniques in Orchestration." Also, while incarcerated, Prison Ministries, Inc., blessed him with an "Inmate Scholarship," which earned him a Doctorate's in Theology. As an "Inmate" he served as a Peer Pastor, Teacher, Counselor, Chaplain and President of Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 359, and the greatest thing he learned through it all, is that unprocessed grief continues to destroy individuals and families.  Therefore, for some 40 years—serving individuals, and families in the "process of grieving" for this is a major focus within him ministry.
