Dr John Cameron: Registered GP on the concern that adult ADHD is being over-diagnosed

Is adult ADHD being over-diagnosed?  A new survey of British doctors shows 7 in ten of the 829 GPs survey believed the disorder is over-diagnosed.  They estimate more than 80% of patients they refer for assessment end up with a diagnosis.  But a registered GP believes it's not the same in New Zealand.  Dr John Cameron told Mike Hosking that based on overseas statistics and criteria from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, New Zealand is probably well under-diagnosing ADHD.  LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
