Dr. John Price: The Sacred Speaks

from Psyche · host Quique Autrey

In this conversation, I speak with Dr. John Price. John (LPC) is the Owner/Co-Founder of the Center For Healing Arts and Sciences. John is a psychotherapist working with adults, families, couples, adolescents and children. John has experience working in several different settings including: residential treatment, independent schools as well as private practice. John has earned 2 bachelors degrees from TCU – working closely with the Institute of Child Development; a Masters from University of Houston Clear Lake and is currently working on his PhD in Jungian Psychology. Before discovering a passion for psychology and the healing arts, John was a professional musician and has enjoyed playing across the county. In addition to all of the formal education and practical experience, most of his learning comes from lessons which come from his own day-to-day life. John has also been a guest speaker at many different conferences and events. John is also the host of one of my favorite podcasts, The Sacred Speaks. The podcast seeks to accept a challenge laid out by Carl Jung: to explore the universal human feelings of emotional incompleteness, spiritual curiosity and one’s related search for wholeness and meaning. https://soundcloud.com/thesacredspeaks In this episode we explore:  John's story: becoming a musician and eventually a therapist  Our dual nature as humans: biological and spiritual or "gods who shit" (Ernest Becker) The three jewels of Buddhism (teacher, path, and community) as a paradigm for making sense of our inherent religious impulses Therapy as a process of coming to accept and enact our full humanity  Much more!
