Dr. Kevin Caffrey - Speaking to the Head and the Heart, Prioritizing Empathetic Communication in the Post COVID Workplace

Kevin Caffrey is the senior associate registrar at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA. He has been working in higher education for nearly 25 years and earned an Ed.D. in higher education leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University and a master's degree in English from Long Island University. His research interests include communication, leadership, and inclusivity. He is also a singer/songwriter and musician with several independently released albums to his name. He also designed a course he teaches to first-year students at the University of Mary Washington entitled “You Have to Listen To This: Connecting Through Music” that explores why we gravitate towards the music that we do, and why sharing the music we love with others is a powerful way to cultivate empathetic connections.
