In this episode Dr. Lucy Burns shares her wisdom of insulin resistance and the connection between polycystic ovary syndrome. Australian-based Dr. Lucy Burns is a general practice and lifestyle medicine physician who helps women in midlife rebalance their mind and body through low carb, real food programs. At her clinic Epiphany Medical Weight Loss, through her online business Real Life Medicine, and on her podcast Real Health and Weight Loss Podcast, she helps women unlearn toxic diet culture and tap into science that promotes long-lasting health and permanent weight loss. In 2018, Lucy began her own shift to a low-carb, real food lifestyle, which ultimately resulted in 20 kgs/44 lbs lost. For years, muscular dystrophy had impaired her movement making it impossible to use exercise for weight management, and she had become insulin resistant. . Since then, Lucy has helped hundreds of women achieve low-carb eating through real, whole foods with her 12-Week Mind Body Rebalance program. With her colleague Dr. Mary Barson, she runs successful online programs that address both the physiological and psychological causes of weight gain and obesity. Along with dedicating her life’s mission to lasting health, Dr. Lucy lives a life of fun with her husband and two teen daughters. She can be found in the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, Australia where she has a small acreage complete with horses, a cow, a goat, dogs, cats, frogs and a bearded dragon.
