Dr Mark Deeks:"The power of music to improve wellbeing, engagement, performance and mental health"
from The Online Entrepreneur Academy Podcast · host Mark Deeks
Welcome to this episode! I’m thrilled to introduce, Dr. Mark Deeks – speaker, teacher, and performer with an incredible background spanning over 25 years in the music industry. And, a Heavy Metal aficionado, of course. Mark has built a diverse and fascinating career, from delivering a TedX talk on the mental health benefits of heavy metal, to his choir work with BBC’s Gareth Malone. He’s also conducted the Royal Northern Sinfonia, led workplace-based musical projects focused on staff wellbeing, and even musical directed for Faye Tozer of Steps. Mark’s versatility doesn’t end there – he’s given piano lessons to Lenny Henry (famous British comedian and actor) - worked with black metal bands like Winterfylleth, whom he joined. And even written symphonic versions of songs by metal stars Sonata Arctica. But above all, Mark is passionate about the power of music to reduce stress and improve mental health. Whether through his keynote speaking, interactive workshops, or encouraging people to incorporate music into their daily lives, he’s dedicated to showing how music can be a game-changer for personal and professional wellbeing.
