If you or anyone you know needs help, call 13 11 14 in Australia*Dr Richard Fejo, better known as Richie, is a Larrakia man of direct male descent, through his father, grandfather and great-grandfather.Dr Fejo has devoted his life to improving education and health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people within urban, rural and remote communities. He is a former Chairman of the Larrakia Nation Aboriginal Corporation, former Vice-President of Darwin Buffaloes Football Club and sat on the City of Darwin’s International Relations Committee. He was also the Chair of the National Cultural Educator’s/Cultural Mentor’s Network for fiveyears during his eleven-year employment with the Northern Territory General Practice Education (NTGPE) as Senior Cultural Educator and was the recent Chair of the Darwin Waterfront Corporation from 2020 to 2024. In 2022, Dr Fejo was awarded an honorary doctorate by Flinders University in recognition of his contribution to education and Indigenous health.Dr Fejo currently holds the positions of Senior Elder on campus with Flinders University, Chair of the Australia Day Council (NT), Board Member of National Disabilities Insurance Agency (NDIA). In addition to his service to the community, Dr Fejo is a talented comedian and singer-songwriter, performing regularly around town, nurturing the next generation of leaders, comics and aspiring singer/songwriters.** NOTE: This podcast speaks of suicide, depression and mental health **If you, or anyone you know is in need of help call LIFELINE on 13 11 14
